Who I Am
My writing background is far from conventional. I began as a scientist – in pursuit of discovering disease-causing genes or proteins responsible for the development of cancer. To this end I earned a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University followed by a doctoral degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. Yet once I gave in to a desire to work in a more flexible, creative and people-oriented environment, I switched gears and began calling myself a writer.
My scientific training opened up many doors and inspired me to first focus on topics pertaining to science, medicine and health. What I soon discovered is that I enjoy writing about just about anything. Every story, every writing opportunity, every professional assignment I take on offers me the chance to learn something new and in-depth, as well as the excuse to interview and get to know some profoundly interesting people. Above all, every writing project provides a sense of fulfillment in what I’m able to impart to readers.
Originally from New York and now happily settled in the Midwest, I live in Madison, Wisconsin. As a mother of four children, my bustling and energetic family provides me an unlimited source of writing material. Topics relevant to the lives of kids, tweens, teens, couples, and parents require little brainstorming, as, that is my life!
I am currently at work on my first book, the subject being the college application process. For more on this project and the lessons I’ve learned in navigating the process, please check out my blog -
